Saturday Night Lights is a citywide crime prevention initiative that provides young people an opportunity to participate in sports based youth development programming that prioritizes community-based interventions through sports, service activations, and partnerships. SNL has three main goals:

GROUP HOLDING SIGN
ACTIVATE SAFE SPACES

Goal # 1: DYCD collaborates with local community based organizations to create safe spaces and provide free, high-quality sports programming for everyone.

BUILD TRUST WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT

Goal # 2: In our efforts to boost public safety and strengthen community ties, SNL provides NYPD officers a chance to build meaningful youth-adult relationships. Together, they promote positive social bonds while teaching self-confidence and discipline through fitness and group-based activities.

CONNECT YOUTH

Goal # 3: Using sports as a driving force, SNL seeks to tap into community resources and build partnerships to create enriching experiences and opportunities for youth. This initiative will help them connect beyond their immediate communities, fostering stronger bonds and cohesion within the community.
